Does
my Yamaha
CDR/RW drive need to be cleaned?
Under
normal use, we do not recommend cleaning the drive. If you do
find it necessary, the only method of cleaning would be using
compressed air. This can be done without removing the cover. You
can open the tray, and using the extension wand that typically
comes with a can of compressed air, spray a few short bursts into
the unit. Be careful not to tilt the can of compressed air, as
that may release some of the liquid propellant into the drive
mechanism and possibly cause some damage to some internal components.
Also, be sure not to use any type of solvents, such as alcohol
or benzene or other types of cleaning fluids. They can damage
internal and external parts and will void your warranty.
