Will creating data CDs from the hard drive help avoid Buffer Underrun Errors in Toast on a Mac?

Creating data CDs from slower input devices, such as Zip drives, Jaz drives, older CD-ROMS, or over a network, will often result in Buffer Underrun errors on the Macintosh. To help insure a more efficient writing session and to avoid the Buffer Underrun errors, it is recommended that the files first be copied to the Macintosh Hard Drive before writing the CD.
NOTE: There must be as much available Hard Drive space as the original content required.

Steps:
File Selection:

1) Launch the Toast application.
2) Double-click on the Hard Drive icon on the desktop.
3) With the Hard Drive window open, select the files and folders to put on the CD.
TIP: To select multiple tracks hold down the 'command' key while selecting the tracks.
4) Drag the selected files to the top portion of the Toast window. Toast will automatically select the appropriate format (audio, Mac Files and Folders, etc).
TIP: For more information on supported formats, refer to the Toast pdf format manual (i.e. 'Toast User Manual 3.5.pdf' or 'Documentation.pdf') that is usually installed on the Hard Drive in the Toast folder.
Removing Undesired Files:
1) To remove any undesired files or folders that have been selected and moved to the top window of the Toast screen, click on the <Data> button, locate the undesired files or folders and highlight them.
2) Click the <Remove> button.
3) When finished removing files from the Toast window, click the <Done> button.

Writing Data to CD:
1) Click the <Write CD> button once all the files to place on the CD have been selected. The 'Start Writing Now' window will appear.
2) The option is available to select the appropriate 'Write Speed' from the drop-down list, though data CDs written from most Hard Drives can be written at the maximum available speed.
NOTE: Check the 'Simulation Mode' box to test the function of the computer system. 'Simulation Mode' actually verifies the data transfer rates and functionality of the Yamaha drive. It will not write data to the CD. It is only a ''practice run''.
NOTE: The option to select the 'Create Disc Image First' is not necessary because the procedure above has been performed. However, for future reference, the 'Create Disc Image First' box can be checked if the CD is being burned from somewhere other than the Hard Drive. A 'Disc Image' creates a copy of the information on the Hard Drive first, then writes to the CD. This action will help insure a successful burn. A Disc Image is not compressed, therefore, there must be as much available Hard Drive space as the original content required.
3) Click either the <Write Session> or the <Write Disc> button to begin the writing process.
NOTE: The 'Write Session' option (if available) should only be used when writing data (anything but audio) to the CD. Writing a session allows data to be written to the CD until it's full. Each session written will show up as a separate CD icon on the desktop display, though all sessions will be written to the same CD. 'Write CD', is different from 'Write Session' in that when the <Write CD> button is clicked, it writes the data to the CD, then locks the remaining space on the CD allowing no other data or sessions to be added. This option is useful when writing CDs for distribution.
