I have just connected my powered speakers up to my computer. Why am I not getting any sound?

Typically, this can be attributed to loose, disconnected, or improperly wired cable(s). Double check all of your connections between the speakers and the computer. Ensure that the plugs are firmly seated in their respective jacks. Also make sure that the power supply for the speakers is plugged in to an active AC outlet.

Then check the sound settings on your computer. Right-mouse click the speaker icon located in your taskbar. This is found in the lower right corner of the screen. Then click on "Properties", or "Open volume controls". This will open up your sound card volume settings. Check to make sure that the volume levels are turned up to about 80% or higher. Also, make sure that no "Mute" boxes are checked. If they are, uncheck them by clicking on the "Mute" box with your mouse.
